چکیده

Abstract Staphylococcal superantigen (SAg) toxins are the most notable virulence factors associated with Staphylococcus aureus , which is a pathogen serious community and hospital acquired infections in humans various diseases animals. Recently, SAg have become superfamily 29 types, including staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) emetic activity, SE-like (SEls) that do not induce emesis primate models or yet been tested, toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1). SEs SEls can be subdivided into classical types (SEA to SEE) novel (SEG SElY, SE01, SE02, SEl26 SEl27). The genes of located diverse accessory genetic elements share certain structural biological properties. heat-stable proteins exhibit pyrogenicity, superantigenicity capacity lethal hypersensitivity endotoxin They multiple pathogenicities interfere normal immune function host, increase chances survival transmission pathogenic bacteria consequently contribute occurrence development infections, persistent food poisoning. This review focuses on following aspects toxins: (1) members classic novelty discovered SAgs; (2) diversity gene locations molecular characteristics; (3) characteristics activities; (4) multi-pathogenicity SAgs animal human diseases, bovine mastitis, swine sepsis, abscesses skin edema pig, arthritis septicemia poultry, nosocomial food-borne humans.

Transcytosis of Staphylococcal Superantigen Toxins

Staphylococcus aureus produces a set of proteins (e.g., staphylococcal enterotoxin A [SEA], SEB, toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 [TSST-1]) which act both as superantigens (SAgs) and toxins. Although their mode of action as SAgs is well understood, little is known about how they enter the body via the intestine and cause food poisoning. To examine this problem we used an in vitro culture system to ...

Unique superantigen activity of staphylococcal exfoliative toxins.

Certain strains of Staphylococcus aureus express one or both of two related, but immunologically distinct, exfoliative toxins (ETA and ETB). These toxins induce the symptoms associated with staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome. Both ETs have been shown to stimulate T cell proliferation. Recently, it was reported that ETA is a superantigen that stimulates T cells bearing human Vbeta2 or several ...

Update on Staphylococcal Superantigen-Induced Signaling Pathways and Therapeutic Interventions

Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) and related bacterial toxins cause diseases in humans and laboratory animals ranging from food poisoning, acute lung injury to toxic shock. These superantigens bind directly to the major histocompatibility complex class II molecules on antigen-presenting cells and specific Vβ regions of T-cell receptors (TCR), resulting in rapid hyper-activation of the host im...

Role of Staphylococcal Superantigen in Atopic Dermatitis: Influence on Keratinocytes

Staphylococcus aureus may perform an crucial function in atopic dermatitis (AD), via the secretion of superantigens, including staphylococcal enterotoxins (SE) A or B, and toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1). Dysregulated cytokine production by keratinocytes (KCs) upon exposure to staphylococcal superantigens (SsAgs) may be principally involved in the pathophysiology of AD. We hypothesized th...
